When it’s hard to talk, it’s up to us to listen.
A Safe Place domestic violence advocates are available around the clock to answer our 24-hour hotline, provide crisis support as requested at Nantucket Cottage Hospital, and assist with restraining orders at the Nantucket Police Department and courthouse. Depending on specific client needs, our services can include providing basic emotional support and individual or group counseling, supplying items such as food and clothing and, in extremely high-risk situations, making emergency “safe home” plans for survivors as part of an exit plan.
If you or someone you know is being impacted by domestic violence, please reach out to us at 508.228.2111.
You are never alone.
A Safe Place advocates Suzanne Fronzuto and Kathy Butterworth attended the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma’s 28th Annual San Diego International Summit this past August.
This event is one of the few that creates a collaborative environment for researchers, practitioners, advocates, survivors, and front-line workers within the violence, abuse and trauma fields to share information, discuss issues, and engage in difficult dialogues.
Back to School Resource & Services Fair Hosted by A Safe Place & Source Hub
A Safe Place, in partnership with Source Hub, hosted our Back to School Resource & Services Fair on Thursday, August 24 at the Nantucket Intermediate School. The resource fair catered to families with children returning to school this fall. Information on resources and services was provided in multiple languages and school supplies were available to families at no cost. Both on and off island organizations were on hand providing information and covering topics such as health, education, food security, housing, financial stability, knowing your rights, and documentation.
Thank you to all participating agencies who made this event a great success!
The Date Smart Program is a collaboration between A Safe Place and the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club. This ten-week program allows students in grades 6 through 8 to examine their feelings about dating and relationships while being encouraged to become peer and community advocates for healthy relationships based on equality and respect.
The Date Smart 2023 program starts Thursday, October 5. For more information, please email annabel@asafeplacenantucket.org.
