Public Statement From A Safe Place

Recent local and national media coverage has placed significant focus on cases of sexual assault and rape. While raising awareness of sexual violence is important, we recognize that repeated exposure to these stories can be distressing and triggering for survivors and others who have been impacted by sexual violence.

At A Safe Place, we want to remind our community that you are not alone, and support is available 24 hours a day. Whether you are seeking support for something that has happened recently, processing past experiences, or simply need someone to talk to, we are here to listen to and support you without judgment.

We encourage all community members to approach conversations about sexual violence with care and sensitivity, and to speak with the understanding that anyone listening may be a survivor, whether or not they have shared their experience. By being mindful of our words and the potential impact of these conversations, we can help foster a community where survivors feel safe, supported, and respected.

If you or someone you know needs support, please know that A Safe Place is here for you. You do not need to be in crisis to ask for help, and you do not have to navigate these feelings or experiences alone. Free and confidential help is available.
